Ho, July 28, GNA - Voice Ghana, a disability rights and advocacy organization in Ho, has received 150,000 dollars from the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) to expand its projects to two regions.

VOICE GHANA has received a grant of US$ 99,759.00 from the Open Society Initiative for West Africa - OSIWA to implement a two year advocacy project for marginalized and socially excluded people with disabilities from 10 districts in the Volta Region.

VOICE GHANA launched a USD50,000 Advocacy Project on Democratic Governance for persons with Disabilities in the Agortime-Ziofe and Adaklu Districts in the Volta Region. The project is supported by STAR Ghana - Strengthening Transparency, Accountability and Responsiveness in Ghana with funding from UKaid, EU, DANIDA, and USAID.

As today marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), VOICE GHANA joins thousands of persons with disabilities in Ghana to mark this event. The main theme for this year’s event globally is “Removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all”.

Voice of People with Disability Ghana (VOICE GHANA) is an NGO managed for and by people with disabilities. The organization has its offices in Ho, Volta Region and was formerly known as VOLPHIG. VOICE GHANA carried out accessibility audit on 216 schools structures in the Ho Municipality including some on-going GETFund schools projects in May, 2011.
